A great little story for young children. The illustrations are adorable and very cheery. The child will have fun looking for the little frog on each vegetable, plus it will help him or her learn their colors.Product details

A Bug in the Garden Kerry Grace King 9781494216498 Books Reviews
We read it to our twin nephews who love it! They love us to read it to them while they launch full blown enactments. They've even turned it into a game!
I read this story to my 4 year old and he's hooked. As soon as we finished he said, "Again! Again!" We've only had the book a couple of days and he's already reading along. The Bug always gets lots of giggles. A charming story.
A Bug in the Garden. What a delightful book. Where do I start! Loved whimsical illustrations, the happy colors and the adorable characters especially the bug. Looking for the hiding frogs was lots of fun.
I shared it with my 4 year old granddaughter and she wanted me to read it again. She loved it. We leave it by her bed now. It is one of her favorite books.
I think this book can be enjoyed by all ages. I can't wait to read it with my other grandchildren.
First, the illustrations in this book are wonderful- the pen and ink drawings with watercolor? of the natural world are superb. I especially love the attention to detail of each garden’s plant- from the barely emerging carrot tops, the blueberries, and the unique characteristics of every vegetable leaf.
The characters’ cheerful banter drives this story and hooks the reader. The dialogue is color coded so that the reader can easily identify the speaker. Determining which character is speaking is not always an easy task for a beginning reader. I don’t know why more children’s picture book authors don’t use this technique. It’s an effective and unobtrusive support.
The frogs are cute (especially when they are hiding and all you can see is their sticky toes), but it is the bug (is it a stinkbug?) who steals the show. Clearly the bug will have a continued presence in all of Kerry’s future books!
As an elementary school literacy teacher and mother of a five year old boy, I recommend this book! Keep up the great illustrating and writing, Kerry!
A great little story for young children. The illustrations are adorable and very cheery. The child will have fun looking for the little frog on each vegetable, plus it will help him or her learn their colors.
