He will change the fate of three kingdoms with his deadly skills... Born in a midwinter blizzard, under a Death Moon, the boy who will become a legend comes into the world in a river of blood, dead. His father names him Conash Dead Son. A humble goat herder’s son and kin of the wood cat, Conash bonds with his familiar, Rivan, when he is just six years old. The sickly boy teeters on the brink of death, so much so that he is given the Death Rites three times before he is ten years old. Against all odds, Conash grows up a happy, laughing child, the apple of his mother’s eye and his father’s most cherished son. The village priestess refuses to give him the Life Rites, however, insisting that the boy will not live to puberty. Conash is beloved of the beasts; able to charm the birds from the trees with his smile, and his parents know he is God Touched. When the Cotti invade his village in the Rout of Ashtalon, Conash is twelve years old, and witnesses the slaughter of his family and the death of his familiar. He wakes from his death sleep a castrated Cotti slave, and suffers their abuse for four years, until the night when he is able to slip away into the desert. He crawls from it maddened and convinced that he is dead, like the ghost of his familiar, which haunts him. He journeys to Jondar, capital of Jashimari, to become a thief and murderer and live in the gutter, fighting for scraps with stray dogs. Thus begins the legend of the Queen’s Blade.

I think is one of my favorite books in the whole set. Having read this "prequel" after having finished the series, it did a great job of shedding light on Blade's personality. In addition to that, I found it to be one of the most well-written of the series. Given that I liked the character Blade, these two books covering his early years were like a great bonus treat. I might even like these two books better than the series as a whole (but would not have liked them had I not liked the series as a whole, so there's the tricky bit). I highly recommend investing the time to "finish" up the story by reading this book and the one that follows it.Product details

Conash Dead Son The Queen Blade Prequel I T C Southwell 9781466423992 Books Reviews
T C Southwell has excelled in this 6 book series with the two prequels as well!!! After reading the first book, I was hooked and read straight through to the end!!!
Love it can't wait to read the rest of this series constant is so sad your heart goes out to him for all he has been through you want to protect him . Can not wait to read the rest reminds me of game of thrones or hunger games
I'm not going to write too much for this series except to say that I liked the series and the price was right. Southwell seems able to come up with neat characters who thankfully win in the end, which is a good book recipe. This review will appear in the other two books too.
TC Sothwell is the most promising writer I have read in years. I have owned my kindle for 4 years and I have never felt motivated to write a review. TC Sothwell has motivated me. I have over 30 of her books in my collection. Starting with the Demon Lord, The Broken World, The Cyber Chronicles. Slave Empire and the Queen's Blade. I was reluctant to start the Queens blade series merely due to the description of a Castrate main character, it has proven to have been well worth my time. The Cyber Chronicles are a nice tight bundle as they stand but I can see so much more for the main character. Obviously you see why I don't wright reviews, I am not exceptionally gifted int he art of writing. TC Southwell however is. I recommend ANYTHING she writes.
Light and Love to you all and thanks for reading.
This is the first of two prequels to the Queen's Blade series. These two prequels can stand on their own, but I read the series first before reading these. I would love to see all eight books together as one, rather than $3.99 each, but other than that, I miss the fact that there are no new books in this series to read. Nice escapist reading material.
It is a good read, but the series it is same-old, same-old to the point it becomes predictable.
I enjoy every aspect of this book and the entire series, it was thought provoking and kept my attention even when I stopped reading each time.
I was drawn on to read the next book, each a treasure on it's own. I found myself thinking about the unfolding story when I was busy elsewhere turning over events or conversations always eager to continue on the journey when I got the chance.
To the author I would like to say, Thank you.
